"Michael S. had called our service shortly after his mother’s death to help clear out her home. Lucky for him, it was 1-800-GOT-JUNK? truck team members Phil Sanon and Latoya Walls who arrived on the scene. In our business we deal with these type jobs on a daily basis, for these customers the items we remove are not junk, they are possessions associated with a lifetime of memories. When Phil and Latoya met Michael, he was completely overwhelmed by the whole process and in his haste, he asked Phil and Latoya to remove practically everything from the home. Sensing Michael’s emotional state, the team knew it was important to make an effort to search through the items to make sure there was nothing of value they would be throwing away.
"Upon a little digging, they began to uncover boxes full of antique jewelry, piles of old photos, and even old choir uniforms. Clearly items that would have had immense sentimental value, not to mention monetary value as well. The team convinced Michael not to throw away the items that day, and asked if it would be alright if they could come back once he had some time to go through the belongings. Several days later when Phil and Latoya were invited back, Michael could not begin to express his gratitude, so overwhelmed was he. He was immensely thankful that our team had convinced him not the throw away the items. The guilt, he said, would have eaten him alive had he thrown the items away. Phil and Latoya have now developed a friendship with Michael, and have even agreed to take his mothers old photos and scan them onto a CD for him!"
